Develocity Agents

Autonomous agents that keep your builds fast, green, and secure — then protect them from regressing.

The Build Caching Optimizer's run report — 3 issues found and fixed, warm rebuild 1m10s to 12.4s, cache hit rate 63% to 100% — with a before/after table and findings.

Feature overview

Develocity Agents

Develocity Agents keep your builds fast, green, and secure. They run as skills inside the AI agents you already use, such as Claude and Codex, on your own model — no new AI vendor to onboard and no data leaving your infrastructure. Every agent follows the same loop: identify what to fix first, ranked by impact across every project, fix it as a verified change, and observe the result. Because Develocity® sees across all builds, it pinpoints what matters most and saves tokens by investigating each systemic failure once instead of in every agent it hits. Four agents sit under one umbrella: Build Caching Optimizer fixes avoidable cache misses, Failure Handler resolves recurring failures and flaky tests, and Build Performance Optimizer and OSS Asset Manager follow. As the agent tier of Develocity's Context Engineering layer, each queries Build Scan®, Policy Scan, and Provenance data through Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers.

Identify, fix, observe — the loop behind every agent

  • Identify — the Build Caching Report and Failure Report rank what to fix first across every project by recoverable CI time or affected builds, with a paste-ready fix prompt.
  • Fix — the agent diagnoses the cause from Build Scans, verifies its fix on real builds, and opens a pull request or routes operational causes to the owning team.
  • Observe — re-run the report to verify that resolved findings drop off the ranking and see which remaining issues still cost the most builds.
  • Two modes: acute, when a broken build blocks a developer or AI agent mid-task; and preventive, when platform teams work down the highest-impact issues across projects.
The Build Caching Report ranking savings opportunities across an instance — 3 opportunities, 126 hours of CI time a week recoverable — each row with a Copy prompt button.

Three dimensions of build health, four specialist agents

  • Fast builds — Build Caching Optimizer diagnoses avoidable cache misses and opens minimum-change pull requests; Build Performance Optimizer follows to tune parallelism and memory.
  • Green builds — Failure Handler ranks recurring failures and flaky tests across the organization, investigates each systemic cause once against cross-build data, and fixes or routes it.
  • RoadmapSecure builds — OSS Asset Manager inventories your open-source and first-party dependencies, querying that inventory whenever a CVE (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures) is disclosed.
  • Install once as a skills plugin in the AI agents you already run, served from your Develocity instance — supporting Gradle and Maven today, with more build tools following.

The Failure Handler, the green-builds specialist agent, finding a test failure systemic across every branch from cross-build data, fixing it once at the source, and verifying the fix before opening a pull request.
Governance

Fix under control — govern every change the agents make, and the dependencies underneath

  • RoadmapOSS Asset Manager builds its dependency inventory from Provenance data and evaluates your Policy Scan policies against it continuously, not just at the build gate.
  • RoadmapWhen a CVE is disclosed after admission, querying the inventory flags every affected build — including first-party artifacts — without re-scanning binaries, and opens a ticket to rebuild.
  • RoadmapApprove, override, or audit any autonomous action and gate it by a confidence threshold — human-on-the-loop control sized to the volume of change agents produce.
  • Runs on the AI agents you already use — such as Claude and Codex — and deploys on-premises or in your private cloud, so data never leaves your infrastructure.
The Build Caching Optimizer's fix opened as a GitHub pull request for human review before merge.
Observability

Observe the impact — what each agent did, what it saved, and where it hasn't run

  • Every agent-triggered build is tagged in its Build Scan (bco.sessionId for the optimizer, FAILURE-HANDLER for the handler), making the full run auditable without the agent session.
  • RoadmapTrack organization-wide impact in Develocity Analytics — measuring recovered CI time, time to green, and landed fixes against token spend for each agent.
  • RoadmapSee which projects have adopted the agents and which haven't, so rollout is driven deliberately rather than left to each team.
A Develocity Build Scans list filtered by bco.sessionId, showing every build one Build Caching Optimizer run produced, each attributed to the agent.
